He held the position alone for three days

Moses, a squad leader in the 92nd Battalion of the 107th Separate Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces, is a devoted father of three. Before the war, he worked as a farmer.

While stationed in the Bakhmut sector, Moses and his squad defended a position that had been recaptured from Russian forces by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Moses understood the significance of this area and defended it alone for almost three days while adjusting artillery fire.

Upon arriving at the position, up to 20 individuals approached the squad. They introduced themselves politely, claiming to be from a nearby café. Moses replied, "Good day! We are from Chernivtsi!" A firefight broke out, resulting in the elimination of a dozen Russian occupiers.

The Russians repeatedly attempted to storm their position throughout the day but were unsuccessful. They then began heavily shelling the area with artillery fire. The explosion's force in the trench caused Moses to be tossed around like a dumpling in a pot. Most of his comrades were injured and evacuated, and reinforcements could not reach him due to the intensity of the fire. Moses decided to stay behind, adjust the artillery fire, and hold the position independently until a replacement and reinforcements arrived.

When asked what gave him strength, Moses stated, "Understanding why I am here, prayer, and mint candies. It's not easy for us to defend every inch of our land, and I couldn't allow the occupiers to capture our position. I knew my comrades would try to break through and help me, and we are like a family here. In a family, they help, support, and protect each other."
