Ukrainian World Congress Delivers $1.22 Million Aid Package to Bolster Defense Intelligence

Kyiv, Ukraine – December 13, 2024

In a strategic effort to enhance the capabilities of Ukraine's defense forces, the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), representing the global Ukrainian community, announced the successful delivery of a significant aid package valued at 51 million Ukrainian Hryvnia (approximately $1.22 million) to the Main Directorate of Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (HUR). This delivery, part of the UWC's "Unite with Ukraine" initiative, underscores the collective commitment of the global Ukrainian community to supporting Ukraine amid ongoing challenges.

The recent donation aims to improve the operational readiness of Ukrainian defense forces by providing a meticulously selected assortment of tactical medical supplies and essential equipment. This comprehensive package was developed by the "Unite with Ukraine" team in close collaboration with the medical leadership team of HUR to bolster medical response capabilities and operational efficiency for Ukrainian medics on the front lines.

The aid package includes 4,465 custom-curated Individual First Aid Kits (IFAKs) specifically designed for immediate first aid in combat situations. These kits feature critical instruments for treating wounds and performing lifesaving interventions. Additionally, the shipment includes 20 Saros Portable Oxygen Concentrators, essential for delivering supplemental oxygen, and 40 X-Stat Hemostasis Applicators, engineered to control severe hemorrhaging efficiently.

Other vital items will contribute significantly to the medical support efforts, such as 8,400 North American Rescue CAT 7th Gen Tourniquets, 900 Hydrogel Burn Dressings, Nasopharyngeal Airway Kits, Junctional Tourniquets, Abdominal Aortic Tourniquets, and tactical stretchers. "Thank you to the Ukrainian World Congress and every Ukrainian who continues to support and strengthen our military intelligence and the security and defense forces of Ukraine. This support is both vital and systematic. We will continue the fight for freedom," said Lieutenant General Kyrylo Budanov, Head of HUR. Upon receiving the donation, HUR's Head of Medical Services Oleh Shchepinskyi expressed gratitude for the ongoing support, highlighting the importance of these contributions for the Ukrainian defense intelligence infrastructure.

"HUR operates in highly challenging and complex conditions, where every decision is critical. We cannot afford any mistakes. In combat, a high-quality tourniquet can be a lifesaver, as soldiers often don't get a second chance," Shchepinskyi said.

He added that the provided assistance and medical supplies not only save soldiers' lives but also help "preserve the hearts and souls of those who are saving them."

UWC and HUR leadership expressed their gratitude to donors and supporters of this initiative, including to key contributors social enterprise Saint Javelin Inc. and the Ukrainian National Home – Association of Ukrainians in Poland Branch in Przemysl, for their invaluable support.

UWC President Paul Grod said, "In these challenging times, strategic collaboration with our partners in Ukraine is not just important, it is essential. It amplifies our collective efforts to provide critical support and equips our brave defenders with the necessary resources to safeguard their nation. Together, we can ensure that every contribution counts towards building a stronger, more resilient Ukraine, and our partnership with Ukraine's Intelligence structure is a testament to that."

Since the onset of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, the cumulative contributions from the Ukrainian World Congress to HUR have reached an impressive total of 121 million hryvnias (approximately $2.9 million).

The "Unite with Ukraine" initiative has successfully raised over $60 million from compassionate supporters representing more than 70 countries. This funding is directed toward procuring critical tactical supplies, medical equipment, armored vehicles, and advanced unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems to support Ukraine's defense forces effectively.

"Ukrainians continue to fight to preserve their sovereignty, identity, and way of life. This battle transcends a mere territorial dispute; it embodies the deep desire of Ukrainians for freedom, democracy, and the fundamental right of human dignity, and we, as the global Ukrainian diaspora, are here to support them." stated Andrew Potichnyj, director of the "Unite with Ukraine" initiative.

As the war in Ukraine continues into its 10th year, sustained international support remains essential for reinforcing the resolve and capabilities of the Ukrainian armed forces.

The Ukrainian World Congress reiterates its commitment to uniting global efforts in supporting Ukraine during these strenuous times, emphasizing that each act of generosity significantly contributes to Ukraine's pursuit of peace, justice, and sovereignty.
