The inaugural event of the “Invincible When United” fundraising tour, a collaborative effort of the Ukrainian World Congress and the Serhiy Prytula Charity Foundation, was held on February 11 at the Old Mill Inn in Toronto.

The Myhal Family Foundation has made a generous pledge to match all donations collected during the joint UWC-Prytula Foundation fundraising tour across six cities in North America, as well as online contributions. For every dollar donated, the foundation will match it with a dollar of its own, up to a maximum of $1,000,000. The funds raised during this event will purchase armored vehicles for safe humanitarian demining in southern Ukraine.

Alexandra Chyczij, the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (UCC), moderated the event, emphasizing the importance of uniting the efforts of Ukrainians living abroad to help Ukraine overcome its challenges.

In her introductory remarks, Chyczij stated that Ukraine is currently facing great danger, which started on February 24, 2022. Although there were hopes that the situation would improve, it has yet to. She added that the Armed Forces of Ukraine need our help at this critical time.

UWC President Paul Grod also emphasized the situation’s urgency and highlighted that the Ukrainian World Congress and Serhiy Prytula Foundation have partnered to assist Ukraine’s defenders.

The event was a dialogue that included UWC President Paul Grod and Serhiy Prytula. Attendees were presented with a short video and participated in a question-and-answer session. The discussion covered various topics, including the volunteer movement, support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the latest developments on the frontline.

The President of the Ukrainian World Congress expressed gratitude to all donors and supporters of Ukraine. Grod discussed the origins of the UWC’s initiative, Unite with Ukraine, and outlined its objectives and areas of focus. “Since the invasion began, we have been purchasing bulletproof vests, helmets, thermal imagers, and first aid kits to assist those on the front lines. However, the needs have changed, so we are working with the Armed Forces to understand what is most needed. We are purchasing armored vehicles to help with evacuation, buying drones, and other necessary equipment,” said Grod.
